Horizon International High School Subjects
The General Education and Training Phase (Grades 8 & 9)
This is the phase where our learners start to make up their minds for their future. At the end of this phase (in Grade 9) a subject choice meeting takes place for learners and parents to enlighten them about their subjects and career options. Subjects we offer in the GET phase are:
- English Home Language
- Afrikaans (First Additional Language)
- IsiZulu (First Additional Language)
- Turkish (Second Additional Language)
- Mathematics
- Natural Science (Science & Biology)
- Technology (Technology & Computer)
- Social Sciences (History & Geography)
- Economic Management Studies
- Life Orientation and Physical Education
- Creative Arts
- Physical Education
The Further Education and Training Phase (Grades 10 to 12)
Grade 9 Learners, in consultation with their parents and the School, select a course of study comprising a minimum of 7 subjects. This is the last and most critical phase before tertiary education.
They offer all the compulsory subjects such as:
- English Home Language
- Afrikaans First Additional Language / IsiZulu First Additional Language
- Mathematics (Both pure and literacy)
- Life Orientation
In addition to this, learners are given the choice to decide from the following elective subjects:
- Physical Science
- Life Sciences (Biology)
- Accounting
- Business Studies
- Geography
- History
- Computer Application Technology (CAT)
- Economics
- Religion Studies
- Additional Maths (Maths 3)
Second Additional Subject:
- Turkish (Grade 10 and Grade 11)

Application for Horizon International High School Admissions 2024-2025
1. All applications are required to be made in writing on the school’s prescribed application form, together with documentary proof requested to be annexed thereto. Once the fully completed application forms are received, as well as all supporting documents, the applicant will be given a date to write the “School Entrance / Scholarship Exam.”
2. Entrance / Scholarship Exam
All Primary School applicants will be assessed by a Skill Evaluation Test and all High School applicants will seat for an Entrance / Scholarship Exam.
3. Requirements Upon application process (before the interview:
- COMPLETED APPLICATION REGISTRATION FORM
- 1 x IDENTITY PHOTO OF LEARNER
- 2 x CERTIFIED COPIES OF UNABRIDGED BIRTH CERTIFICATE (INCLUDING PARENTS’ DETAILS) or Proof of application thereof.
- LATEST SCHOOL REPORT/PROGRESS REPORT OF LEARNER
- TRANSFER CARD (To be submitted to the school office on the first day of school)
- CERTIFIED COPIES OF BOTH PARENTS’ I.D. DOCUMENTS and ACCOUNT PAYEE
- LATEST PAYSLIPS OF BOTH PARENTS AND ACCOUNT PAYEE
- CLINIC CARD OF LEARNER
- PROOF OF RESIDENCE OF PAYEE AND WHERE THE CHILD LIVES
- PROOF OF EMPLOYMENT FOR BOTH PARENTS AND ACCOUNT PAYEE
- PROOF OF BANK ACCOUNT FOR ACCOUNT PAYEE (WITH OFFICIAL BANK STAMP)
- COPY OF THE CURRENT SCHOOL’S LATEST ACCOUNT STATEMENT
- STUDY PERMIT (ALL FOREIGN STUDENTS)
How to apply for admission to Horizon International High School
- Go to the official website of the school
- At the top menu of the page, click on the “Apply for Admission” tab
- All new applicants must complete the application form before applying. They will not process applications without filling out the forms.
