Hillcrest High School SA Admissions 2024-2025: School Applications Open Day 2024

A very warm welcome to Hillcrest College. They are a small co-ed school with 300 pupils from Form 1 to Form 6. We also have a boarding facility which is able to cope with 200 pupils.

For the academic year 2024–2025, Hillcrest High School SA has opened its admission for students who are interested in enrolling in the school academic year. I’ll provide students with advice to all applicants to apply for the admission period before the deadline.

Hillcrest High School SA Academic Subject Offered:

Hillcrest College offers a variety of subjects within the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE) framework. Their school syllabus is structured in such a way as to allow young learners in Forms 1 and 2 to develop the necessary thinking and learning skills to lay the foundation for the IGCSE and AS/A Level programme of Form 3, 4, Lower, and Upper 6.

Students are required to take all the listed core subjects and to choose at least two of the practical subjects.

Document and information required for the admission of a learner

  • A copy of the learner’s birth certificate.
  • The School’s prescribed application form.
  • Proof that the learner has been immunized.
  • An original transfer card for the learner where he/she is transferring from one school (independent or public) to the School.
  • A copy of any reports that will assist the School in understanding the educational needs of the learner.
  • Proof of the residential address(es) of the learner and both parents (which proof may include a copy of a title deed, existing lease agreement, and/or utility bill or bank statement not older than three months). Hillcrest High School SA Admissions 2024-2025

 

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL’S

LEARNING SUPPORT UNIT

Application for admission to the Hillcrest High Learning Support Unit is dependent upon the outcome of a case review and an interview.

The following aspects are considered:

1. INTELLECTUAL ASSESSMENT

The learner, having been assessed by a registered Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychologist on a recognized intellectual assessment, should be in the average or above I.Q. range. A significant discrepancy between Verbal and Non-Verbal and/or inter-test scatter could be indicative of a specific learning disorder.

2. SCHOLASTIC FUNCTIONING / PERFORMANCE

Level of Scholastic Performance

The extent of the lags in any learning area should be considered in terms of scholastic history and academic potential.

3. COMPOUNDING VARIABLES

a) Perceptual Areas Gross and fine motor coordination difficulties Visual perceptual difficulties: assessed on standardized tests. Auditory perceptual difficulties: assessed on standardized tests
b) Language-based difficulties as identified by standardized tests. An informal assessment of spoken and written language may be necessary to determine the learner’s performance in relation to his expected levels of performance.
c) Attention Deficit Disorder with or without Hyperactivity
d) Memory Difficulties

4. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

  • The following would contribute to a positive prognosis and progress:
  • Parental support and co-operation
  • Parental supervision with regard to a learner’s homework and school programme
  • The extent of scholastic lags on admission
  • Positive response to previous intervention
  • Willingness and responsibility of parents to accept guidance and counseling when necessary
  • Learner’s ability to cope with the demands of the school environment, both socially and emotionally; the main consideration being the learner’s well-being
  • Learner’s level of motivation and extent of secondary emotional and/or behavioral problems

5. DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED FOR CASE REVIEW

a) The most recent, full Psycho-educational assessment that you have available. Please note that it may be necessary for us to request an updated report.
b) Speech Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy Assessments if these have been carried out.
c) Medical or other relevant reports.
d) Referral form completed by the learner’s current teacher.
e) Copies of the learner’s work. This should include a Maths test, an essay or other creative writing, and an English comprehension.
f) Any other supporting documentation you may wish to submit. Once all the above information has been provided to the school, it will be reviewed and the interview process will proceed. You will be contacted by our office to set up a mutually convenient time. School Applications Open Day 2024
