Grades 8 and 9
The following subjects are offered in Grades 8 and 9:
- English
- First additional language: isiXhosa or Afrikaans or French
- Second additional language: French or Mandarin or Music or isiXhosa or Latin or Classical Civilisations
- Mathematics
- EDAD, (EMS, Music, Drama, Art, and Dance)
- Design & Food Technology
- History
- Geography
- Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
- Religious Education
- Life Orientation
- Research Resources
Grade 9 Subject Choices for Gr 10-12: Please click on the link to access information on each subject offered to matric as well as the subject packages Subject Choices.
Girls must study English in Option 1, an Additional Language in Option 2, Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy in Option 3, and Life Orientation in Option 7. Pupils choose one subject from each of Options 4, 5 and 6.
- Option 1 English
- Option 2 Afrikaans (Home Language or First Additional Language) or isiXhosa (First Additional Language) or French (First Additional Language for ‘immigrants’ only)
- Option 3 Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
- Option 4 Design or Dramatic Arts or Geography or Information Technology or Life Sciences or Music
- Option 5 Geography or History or Physical Sciences or Visual Arts or Music
- Option 6 Accounting or History or Life Sciences or Visual Arts
- Option 7 Life Orientation
- Advanced Programme Maths, English and Physics are offered as extra subjects.
Admission Process
Manual Applications
Should you prefer to submit your application manually please return the completed form to Lisa Hobson at The Diocesan School for Girls.
Please ensure all required documentation accompanies your application form.
The application for admission date is 31 march 2024.
Late applications will be received and placed on the waiting list.
THE DSG APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Complete and return the application form with the supporting documentation listed. Please follow up with them if you do not receive an acknowledgement of their receipt of your form.
- As originals are not required, these documents may be emailed or faxed back to them.
- There is no application fee.
- Applications must be returned by March of the year preceding entry but, due to the demand for places at DSG, The earlier the forms are submitted the better.
- Part of our admission process includes an interview with the Head. You will be contacted to confirm a date for this. School Fees 2024
- Offers of places will be emailed to parents during the April of the year preceding admission. Offers of places must be confirmed in writing and the entrance fee paid within a month of the offer (a date will be stipulated with the offer).
- House placements and New Girls Packs will be sent to parents by October of the year preceding the entry
