Admission to Selborne College is welcoming all students to apply for the 2024-2025 academic year. If you are a parent with an interest in admitting your child to school, well the admission portal has been opened. All parents must attach the necessary required documents when applying for 2024-2025 admission at Selborne College. Please read this carefully to follow up on the application!

Subjects Offered at Selborne College

Below are the subjects offered at the institution for the academic year 2024-2025:

Grade 8 and Grade 9

• English
• Afrikaans or IsiXhosa
• Mathematics
• Natural Sciences (Physical Science and Life Science) (NS)
• Social Sciences (History and Geography) (SS)
• Life Orientation (LO)
• Economic Management Science (EMS)
• Technology
• Creative Arts
• Computers (Grade 8 Only)
• Gym and Sport Lessons

Grade 10

In each student’s Grade 9 year, they must decide on what subjects they will do from Grade 10 through to Grade 12. Everyone will have to do English (Home Language) as the language of instruction and Life Orientation. A choice of the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh subjects is made by choosing ONE from each of the FIVE groupings below:

• First Set: IsiXhosa (additional language) or Afrikaans (additional language)
• Second Set: Mathematical Literacy or Mathematics
• Third Set: Physical Sciences or Geography or Computer Applications Technology
• Fourth Set: Life Sciences or History or Geography or Information Technology
• Fifth Set: Accounting or Engineering Graphics and Design or Life Sciences or Business Studies or Music

Please Note: Music or Visual Art may be taken in the 3rd, 4th or 5th set.

Physical Science and Accounting may only be taken if doing Mathematics.

 

Document and information required for the admission of a learner

Please use this form to ensure you have collected all the necessary information and attached it to your application form before submitting your Admission pack to the school.

• Four (4) Identical IDENTITY size PHOTOGRAPHS of your son
• Photos to be taken in the year of application)
• Certified copy of your son’s UNABRIDGED BIRTH CERTIFICATE
• (Non-South African Residents to provide Passport/ Study Permit/Refugee Status)
• TERM 4 Report – previous year
• TERM 1 Report – by request on the day of the Interview.
• Copy of MEDICAL AID membership card (back and front)
• Certified copy of MOTHER’S Identity Document Certified copy of FATHER’S Identity Document
• Certified copy of the person responsible for fees if not the parent.
• 9Copy of PROOF OF EMPLOYMENT or PAYSLIPS for both parents and/or person responsible for fees.
• (If Self Employed a letter from the Bookkeeper/Accountant.)
• PROOF OF RESIDENCE (Eg Municipal or Telephone a/c)
• (Proof of Residence is required for both parents if not living at the same address)
• ADMINISTRATION FEE of R100.00 (payable with application)

NO APPLICATION will be accepted/processed without ALL the relevant

How to apply to Selborne College for the Academic Year

• At the top menu of the page, click on the “Apply for Admission” tab
• All new applicants must complete the application form before applying. They will not process applications without filling out the forms.
